I've had a few people ask what the song is for the stop motion we just did. It's a song called "Great DJ" by one of my new favorite bands called the Ting Tings. They are a fantastic addition to the iPod. In fact, they are the iPod. I found them from their song called "Shut Up and Let Me Go" Which is on the new iPod commercial. Great tunes.

Nike Stop Motion

We just got back from Mexico City a week ago. My good friend Omri, picked up a job directing a sales video for Nike on the slice of life of an emerging runner. I decided to jump in and do a little stop motion on the video and it's been getting some rave reviews.

The stop motion is about half way through the video. Check it out:

A few months ago I picked up Adobe Lightroom for the first time. I decided I wanted something a little more advanced for cataloging my images. I'm beginning to love it. I've been using it as a master editing program in my workflow process depending on the project. You can add keywords and ITPC data on import. I'm still using Capture One for the initial edit and image processing. Lightroom is great for organizing, keywording, and building custom contact sheets. You can even integrate your own branding.

My workflow process as follows: Import in to Capture One > Initial edit, contrast, WB, and Exposure adjustements > Process to Jpegs in C1 > Open processed Jpegs in Bridge > Make a more refined edit by starring selected images(these become my "Story" images) > Import Processed Jpegs into master Lightroom catalog

Depending on different jobs, determines what I do with them in Lightroom. I've set up one main catalog with all my select images, and my entire collection of photographs I've taken over the last few years. If the shoot has images I want to use in my portfolio I will add them to the master catalog. Now I can search by keywords if I'm building a promo piece, or creating a new edit for my portfolio.

Sometimes I will create a "job" catalog which allows me to create web contact sheets for the client. For example, this last Nike job, the client will have 3200 images to look through to make their selections. Lightroom made it easy to keyword, select images by keyword, and create a custom contact sheet out of those selected images. I now have a master catalog for the whole job.

Here's a couple screen shots:

Acai

My new found Brazilian love besides the girls. It's the perfect breakfast combined with bananas or strawberries and granola. Not only is it very tasty, but very healthy for you. I couldn't get enough of it when I was there.

Buy it here if you live in the states, and better yet, LA: http://www.brazilexplore.com/shop/products.aspx?catid=472

El Califa es el Padrote!

I'm wrapping my time here in Mexico City today. I really love this place. Its not a place that I would have ever thought to be such a cool city, but it has a lot to offer.  Besides the cheap amazing fresh squeezed orange juice that I've fallen in love with, there are some great eats here.

One of the best spots is El Califa. It's hands down the best tacos in the city, not only claimed by myself, but by my lovely Mexican friends. I ate there 4 of the 5 days I've been here. Had to stock up before I head back to LA. My favorite taco is the Gringa. A little pastor, pineapple, onions, cilantro… then a tasty selection of salsas to pile on.

If you're ever in Mex city, check this place out!

It's amazing that I'm not even close to finished editing the images for this shoot, and the website is launched. Nike does everything last minute and on the wire. Every job I've done for them has sprung up in less than a week, then executed. The images I shot on this job will be placed on the site throughout the year. The site was developed by my boys over at We The Media in less than 3.5 weeks.

Nike is one company that has really adapted to the web 2.0 world. They've hired bloggers and paid for good photography to keep their blogs up to date and progressive. They realize the importance of it.
