Dang, the shot of girl flipping cards, standing on bumper is staggeringly cool! (is that a word? the shot is worthy of making up words).
I used to go to Kualoa for a mountain bike stage race in the 90’s, magical place, but never seen magical people pics like these from there.

@Kristin, Thanks for reading! I went to hawaii specifically to test, which I just posted a post on Testing. http://www.nickonkenconnection.com/shoptalk/2008/09/testing-for-your-book.html It should answer some of your questions. I worked with a modeling agency called Jetset to get the models. My producer friend is from hawaii, but lives in Portland. She was building her book as well. When working with an agency, you get better models, but you can get a stock release signed unless you pay lots of money.. .So yes, these are only for my portfolio.
@Mr. T: No there’s no prop house. My producer saw it parked at a beach, and left a note to see if we could use it.

Hi there-
I love checking your blog regularly. I have a lot of questions regarding this post, hope you don’t mind. First off, were you already in Hawaii for other work? When you produce work for your portfolio, what does that get you, more editorial work, or just to show your range? How do you find such beautiful models and props to work with? Does your producer friend work for you or you just happen to have a connection? Do you use this type of work for stock images or strictly for your portfolio?
