There's something to be said about film and the way it feels. Shot a few rolls with my Diana(square aspect ratio vignetted shots) and Pentax 67(rectangle aspect ratio images). The Pentax 67 has an amazing depth of field, and you can really see/feel the organic grain of the film. I still have yet to see digital capture/create process this feeling.
And about 2 years ago I tried the same thing and then found myself shooting 4X5 and 8X10. Rarely use any other camera now.
These look great! What films were you shooting on?
A couple of films. Kodak 160NC and Fuji Pro 400H
Killer. Can’t wait to rewind a bit and start shooting BW/Colour film. Hope to see more.
Do you use film for any paying Jobs? Ive been wanting to integrate film into client work, but the time turn around has been preventing me…
nice stuff nick. interesting how you managed the same overall feel as your digital stuff — did you tweak in post? i love film but have sold all of my film cameras at this point — and — it’s so expensive — film, processing, then the hassle of scanning — i read more and more about how some people just can’t give up film, but you do have to admit that testing on film is an expensive, uh, expense… did you see the interview with Sam Jones on APhotoEditor blog, talking about film?
really dig your work, nice light, great energy.
Pentax 67 doesn’t suck. Although I’m seeing an overall trend where your models need to up the face a bit.
Your style shows thru regardless of what capture device is in your hand. And as others have stated, the 67 doesn’t suck! Dig out that old 4×5 and lets see a few sheets!
I’ve been shooting more and more film lately. Unfortunately I haven’t picked up a tank/reels and chemicals yet, so I’ve just got a pile of film waiting to be developed. I even bought a scanner to scan the film. i really need to get the time to do that!
Film is amazing! I can’t shoot anything serious with anything else. So is your work! Amazing that is. Keep it up bro!
