In my previous career, I eventually realized that a large part of my success was due to the fact that I had a quality product.  I think we loose sight of that every once in a while, so I appreciate that you took the time to remind us of this simple yet powerful principle. As long as the quality is close to your peers, all that matters is marketing and networking. The work is just the conversation starter (because showing up with an empty folder would seem odd).</description>

		<description>Funny because I just wrapped up the book 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing by Al Ries and Jack Trout which argues that there&#039;s a misconception that the better product wins in a prospects (in our case, the clients&#039;) minds.  This is not to undermine quality or the fact that we should always strive to improve quality but it goes into several case studies to show that being better does not mean you will win or standout among your competition (from a marketing stand point).

Their case in point: Who was the first person to fly solo across the Atlantic? Easy, Charles Lindbergh.
Who was the second? Err...  ..  ..  .
Bert Hinkler was a better pilot than Charles- he flew faster and he consumed less fuel.

According to the book, positioning yourself FIRST at something (e.g. Kanye&#039;s G.O.O.D. Friday) as well as specializing (i.e. NOT diversifying) are common traits of strong, successful brands.

Food for thought of course :)
