The Amazing DJ Jasmine Solano

I quite enjoy the story of how I met Jasmine. I was attending a gallery show at MILK back in December and this attractive lady DJ was spinning some dancetastic tracks. Three days later, I ended up shooting her along with Amar’e Stoudemire for Nike. From there we became friends, and have done a few shoots together since. This was the first shoot, and we shot in the LES.

A few weeks ago I was commissioned my awesome friends Coco && Breezy for Inked Mag. One of the few time they’ve had a few shots taken without their glasses. But do check out their glasses.

I want to introduce you to my awesome new friends, Coco && Breezy, who I met a few months ago on a photoshoot. We have come to find that we are kindred spirits, and have become good friends. But, let me just brag about them for one second. The stylist on a shoot pulled their studded glasses, that you’ve seen on a few small stars like Lady Gaga, and Nicki Mnaj. Little did I know how famous these girls are, let alone how awesome they are. Breezy and I chopped it up like we had known each other for years, and I came to find out how awesome these young hustlers really are. They work hard and have built themselves as a great brand in two years. I have mad respect for these girls as they are young, they “get it”, and they hustle. They have a great story of how they came to be where they are, and are definitely going places. Check out their brand for yourself. Watch a few of their interviews.

I met Jesse when I shot him for Nike at the Amar’e Stoudemire lookbook shoot. Really dug his look and worked out a little collaboration portrait project with him. Shot all film. Mostly the Hassleblad 503CW with Kodak Tmax400 and Portra400. Many thanks to Ali at A Noble Savage for the use of his amazing styled out loft. Check out Jesse’s Music here: http://jbiiimusic.com/

Shooting film is fun and freeing, but not free. I’m starting to like not knowing what I’m getting when I’m shooting my personal work. A bit more experimental. After Summit Series, I stayed a couple days and scheduled a shoot with my friend Evelyne, and her BF Marcus. Cameras: Contax G2, Yashica T4, and Hasselblad 503CW. Film: Kodak 400VC, NC, New Portra, and Tmax 400.

Sometimes tests can turn into printed work and tears. We shot this a few months back, and Cosmo Norway ran the story. This story was styled by my girl Melinda Tarbell. We shot the story on my Contax G2’s with Kodak 400VC & NC.

Threw down a few rolls of film with my beautiful friend Mei Melancon this week in LA. She was Psylocke, in X-Men: The Last Stand. Really starting to enjoy shooting the new Hassy 503CW. The square format is so nice to frame up. The color is the new Portra 400. Also shot a couple rolls with the Contax G2.

More film fun with Stella & Camile in LA. A little more running around Silver Lake with a couple of film cameras. There a few shots from the Yashica T4 in here. Most were shot with the Contax G2. Kodak Portra 400VC & NC. I love pushing and utilizing the grain in film.

La Jolla Beach Style in Film

I’m really realizing how much I love the grittiness that film brings. Shooting film with different cameras is a good way to exercise your eye to see things differently. I mostly shot my Contax G2’s, but pulled the Hasselblad 503CW out for a few shots at the end. I shot down in La Jolla this weekend, and had a nice little break from the 20 degree weather in NYC.
